Quiet moments with kids

So, these last few days have been a little trying in our home. I have had little patience with my girls, meaning Halli for the most part, and she has definitely been trying her darndest to test my patience. There have been moments where I have not felt like a good mom, nor have I felt like entertaining my children, which probably leads to the times when I get upset cause they won't listen. Then today I was online and saw some ideas for kids, I don't know why it didn't occur to me before, but I asked Halli if she wanted to play beauty parlor, and of course, she did. She was just entertained for almost an hour, and I actually got to read my book! What a great idea, I can't believe I hadn't thought of it before! (Peyton was sleeping during this time, and actually still is!) So, here are some pictures of Halli's masterpiece. It was really nice to have some quiet time with her not watching television, and hearing her talk about how excited she was and how beautiful it was going to be when it was done. I have to say, I'm quite impressed with just how well she did, and I feel like a princess, that has every bow and ribbon that we own in my hair!

Halli's creation, she took the picture too, and did a pretty good job if I do say so myself.
The back side, She really went to work there.

Disneyland

Well, this last week our good friend Sean got a new job at continental airlines as a pilot. He and his wife were so excited about the new promotion that they decided to take a trip and being the great friends that they are, they invited us along. Wednesday night we finalized plans to go to disneyland the next day. Talk about a whirlwind trip. There wasn't even time for anticipation, which with a couple of four year olds, is a good thing. The flight wasn't exactly great cause peyton wouldn't take a nap. It was a long three hours. Once we finally landed, the airline hadn't sent Blakes carseat, so we were stuck in baggage claim for a little longer than intended waiting to get that situation resolved, as well as getting the rental cars, but it was alright, there were phones there to entertain the kiddos.
We finally got to the hotel around 9:30 and put the babies to sleep. Halli & Blake thought it was way cool to sleep on their "transformer" bed as Blake put it. It was a sofa bed, but so cool to a four year old. :) Everyone woke up bright and early the next day ready to head out to disneyland. We started off the day with a smaller ride that the babies could go on, and then went to snow white, which scared Halli & Blake just a little bit. I was kinda suprised just how many spooky rides there were at disneyland. I guess you don't really think about it until you have kids with you to remind you.
The whole first day was really spent waiting in line for some of the bigger rides, everyone loved pirates of the caribbean, and the kids liked splash mountain. I wish I could have gone on more of the rides with Halli to see her reaction, but being pregnant and having peyton to watch made it kind of impossible. She said she loved the Haunted mansion, but not the elevator part at the beginning. The hardest part of the day for her was when we were on the train that goes around the park, and it had stopped at one of the stations, we weren't planning on getting off, and right behind us at the bottom of the hill were Belle, Aurora, Cinderella and the fairy Godmother. Halli put her hands over her face and gasped then hopped off her seat, put her hands on her hips and exclaimed "I'm getting off!" We wouldn't have made it in time cause they were getting ready to leave, but she was absolutely heartbroken.
Another of her favorite things to do was see the fireworks at night. They put on a really cool fireworks display and the kids all thought it was the best thing. Peyton loved watching them too.
The second day was a little different. The kids were kinda tired and we had promised Halli we would find some princesses that day. So we got to the park and went to meet the princesses. You have to wait in line and they keep all the princesses behind a wall where you can't see them, so you wait for about 1 1/2 hours and you don't even know who your going to meet. Kevin was a sweetie and waited in line while we took the kiddos on a couple rides. I didn't want the Monsons to have to wait to meet princesses with their two little boys. We finally got to the front of the line though and Halli was so excited. She was able to meet Pocahontas, and lucky for us, right as we got there Jasmine came to take her place so Halli was able to meet four princesses instead of just three. After that she met Belle and then mulan. Now her favorite princess is Ariel and they keep her in a different spot, cause she's part fish and can't walk around like the other princesses. So we left one line, to stand in another. Thats kinda how disneyland is though, isn't it? So she finally got the meet Ariel. All during this time, the Monsons were waiting in another 1 1/2 hour line for finding nemo, the submarine ride. We caught up to them and got on the submarine. Its a cool ride, but not really after waiting that long in line.
The rest of the day went pretty quick and we only went on a couple more rides. Sean & Kevin left real quick to go on Indiana Jones which they really liked, and Allie & I took Halli & Blake on autotopia, where they got a drivers license and got to drive the car, Halli LOVED it. It was a short trip but the kids had lots of fun, at least the older kids anyway. I seem to have lots of photos of Peyton crying. I think she had a slightly long weekend. But it was tons of fun, and we were able to really enjoy the time there spent with our families and friends.

On the submarine, it was a neat ride.

Our very unhappy girl playing in toontown. I have no idea why she was mad, she was finally free of the the stroller, you'd think she'd be so excited.

You can't really see them, but this is Kevin, Sean and the older kids on splash mountain. That's Kevin with his arm up on the air, Sean is in front of him, and you can't really see the kids.

Busy Week

So this week started off kinda busy, I was getting all excited for Valentines day and we had parties most of the week for that. It's so easy to get excited when your kids are, so with Halli making valentines for people every day, it was easy to get into the spirit. We started off by having a small v-day party on tuesday night with a few other families. We made pizzas for dinner, had a little scavanger hunt that went over really well with the kids, and then they got to frost cookies. It was one eventful night, and me, being the blonde that I am didn't pull out my camera till halfway through the night.

Date night and sweet love!

So saturday night Kevin took me out to a rockets game, that boy sure knows the way right to my heart!:) It was a fun night but I'm sure he got sick of me pointing out stupid things and asking random questions, like, which cameras are for tv, and which ones are for the jumbo-tron?, while he was trying to enjoy the game. But it was nice to have a night out since we don't do that too often without the kids, and toward the end of the game when they're throwing out the t-shirts, he caught one for me. It was just what I always wanted.

While we were gone we had a cute couple from our ward, Candis and Deven watch the girls. They are so great with them and Halli was SO excited to have them come over. When I told her they were coming she said.."Mom my heart is so happy!" what a cheese ball, but it was sweet! Anyway, we came home and I went into our room and turned on the light only to find sweet valentines notes all over our bed. No, Candis was not trying to hit on my husband!:) But she did help Halli make some sweet little hearts for us. (I'm sure Deven helped a little too.) And in the middle of the night, a little girl came into our room and asked me if I saw the hearts, she is too funny and couldn't even wait till morning. It was such a sweet suprise and I'm lucky to have little girls that are so sweet and adorable. What a great ending to our night out.

Please don't be envious of our fancy schmancy bed. I know it's spectacular!

Halli's cute little love notes. She's getting pretty good at writing.

So, this is the Valentines card I've made, now I just have to get them printed. I have so much fun making these, it's really my form of relaxation I think, and I've needed it this week. Both the girls have been sick and throwing up, Peyton more than Halli. Which is too bad, cause Halli can actually make the bowl 99% of the time which makes things really easy for me. But its good for Halli, she's actually feeling fine, which is good. If only we could get miss Peyton better, she's having a hard time and I feel so bad for her. Not to mention that now I think I'm getting it, but moms aren't supposed to get sick, so maybe I'm not!:) Oh well, it's just a fun week stuck in the house at the Williams home.
